Description: Field bindweed is a perennial plant that forms multiple, climbing or mat-forming stems from extensive root systems. Stems are 1 to 4 feet long with arrow-shaped leaves. Flowers are large, single, and bell-shaped and may be white to pale pink. Field bindweed was introduced from Europe. Control: Perennial plants require depletion of nutrient reserves in the root system, prevention of seed production and prevention of dispersal. Eradication is difficult due to large, deep root systems. |
