Description: Foxtail barley is a perennial grass growing in a low tuft. Flowers are arranged in spikes with long reddish awns that turn cream when mature. Foxtail barley is native to Alaska. The stiff awns can cause mechanical damage to grazing livestock and dogs when mixed in forage or bedding. Control: Perennial
plants require depletion of nutrient reserves in the root system, prevention
of seed production and prevention of dispersal. |
