Melilotus albus Desr.

Description: Sweetclover is an annual, winter annual, or biennial legume with branching stems. Plants grow 2 to 6 feet tall with 3-part leaves. Flowers are small and white and arranged in spikes along the tips of branches. Sweetclovers were introduced from Europe and Asia. It is often planted as bee forage.

Control: Annual plants require prevention of seed production and prevention of dispersal. Select less prolific seeders or encourage the growth of native flowers for bee forage.
